The student society hosts its annual Clinical Skills Competition every October. Students work in self-formed teams
of two and are given two hours to develop a pharmaceutical care plan for a given patient case using the drug information resources
provided. Students demonstrate their skills in assessing patient history, identifying drug therapy problems and
treatment goals, and recommending pharmaceutical care, including monitoring parameters and specific desired outcomes.
Upon completion, each team gives a brief presentation of their care plan to the judges who then choose the team that developed
the most accurate care plan.
The winning team will be given the opportunity to compete in the national
competition at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting on December 2 in Anaheim, CA. The team will be reimbursed
for their airfare and accomodations within a budget set by the student society.
All P-5 and P-6 students are encouraged
to participate. Students must email
jnathan@liu.edu to register.
